In a recent interview, Brian Jarrard said the following about the future of Halo and Bungie:
“I think there’s a lot of work just to get Reach done between now and next fall. At that point anything’s possible. We’re going to keep looking at making the games we want to make. Maybe that’s Halo. Maybe it’s not. We’ll have to wait and see.“
Before Jarrard said this, it was pretty clear Bungie would be done with Halo after Reach. However, after this statement anything could happen. source
Joystiq recently sat down with Bungie at GamesCom and asked them about the Halo Reach beta and how players would access it.
Bungie is trying to make entry into Halo: Reach’s beta as easy as possible — at least if you pick up Halo 3 ODST next month. Bungie explained to Joystiq at GamesCom ODST’s main menu will host an “extras” tab, which will contain access to the Reach beta once it activates sometime next year.
Bungie considers the beta to be “a big part of the value of the disc.”

Hmm. I wonder what else could be under that “extras” tab…
Clearing up some confusion about the recent Halo: Reach Ends it All post made late last month is Bungie’s community manager Brian Jarrard. In a recent interview with VG247, Brian explained that Halo: Reach will be the last “injection” of story or content to the current Halo Trilogy. This leaves the door open to an entirely different Halo series, or at least another series loosely connected to Halo in some manner.
“For now Reach is definitely our next big thing, and it doesn’t really fit into the Halo trilogy itself. It’s definitely a prequel, standalone offering, so we don’t have current plans to go back and inject more content into the current Halo trilogy,” said Jarrard.
“I think ODST is going to be a nice exclamation point, a nice rounding up of multiplayer content and a different side-story, but right now Reach is our focus.”
