If you didn’t get a chance to catch the latest episode of GTTV That recently aired on Spike yesterday, don’t worry, you didn’t miss much. Besides Geoff trying to get every bit of info out of the Halo: Reach developers, there was only one bit of information that was of any particular interest. During the interview with Brian Jarrard, Geoff asked if there where going to be dual-wielding in Halo: Reach. Brian had this to say:
“uh.. you know, i don’t think i’ve seen dual-weilding in the game yet”
This isn’t a definitive answer, especially because of the “yet” at the end. Draw your own conclusion and leave a comment.
Bungie decides to put out the fire surrounding recent screenshots released of Halo: Reach’s Campaign. One being the most controversial, the off-centered aimer. Urk tells us that this isn’t intentional, just a bug and even goes as far to give us the bug number, #15163.
In his latest episode, The HipHopGamer speculates on the possibility of a single-player campaign mission making an appearance in the Halo: Reach Beta. It’s an interesting thought but I do recall Bungie offering a “Reach Xbox Live Mutliplayer Beta“.
Fans have got their hands on two trailers, a few images and only a couple of paragraphs of good solid information about Halo: Reach. Leave it up to the true Halo fans to whip up so much speculation from such little material. Up until this point we’ve mostly focused what Halo: Reach is about and what will be new and more awesome the Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST.
It’s time to take a step back and assess what could potentially ruine Bungie’s newest mega video game for all of us. CinimaBlend’s games department has short but sweet little list of potential downfalls that could make Halo: Reach a bust. Hit the jump to check them out!
During a recent interview with G4TV, Joseph Staten dropped this little hint about the future of the ODST’s:
“I can’t comment on any future plans for our ODSTs, but it would be a shame if we made a game about the planet Reach — a place where Buck, the ODST’s squad leader, was known to be — and not have him appear in some way shape or form.”
Could Buck and crew return in Halo: Reach? Time will only tell…
Brier Dudley, a technology and business writer for The Seattle Times, writes an interesting post about Microsoft’s upcoming interactive, motion-sensing device code-named “Project Natal”. He reports that a British game magazine(MCVuk) recently wrote about a leak coming from British game developers who were briefed by the company.
Information given was that Microsoft will ship 5 million units in the month of November next year. Price is said to be between 50-80 USD. Launching along side Project Natal will be 14 Natal-enabled games. Brier speculates that Halo: Reach will be one of those games.
Halo Waypoint is due to launch for free on November 5th to all Xbox Live members and shortly after, to gold members only. Waypoint is a xbox 360 dashboard hub that aims to aggregate data across all Xbox 360 Halo games in an effort to bring more interactivity to the table. Developed by Microsoft’s Halo group, 343 Industries, in conjunction with game development studio Certain Affinity, Halo Waypoint will include Community screenshots, gametypes, awards, Halo lore, Halo player spotlights and more. Jason Pace tells Kotaku that Halo Waypoint intends to event or bring forth a certain content type for each day of the weak, ensuring that Halo fans always have something new to do. …
Even though it was already fairly safe to assume that Halo: Reach would be a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, it was never actually confirmed until now. Frank O’Connor was recently interviewed by USA Today, and revealed that it is indeed a prequel to Halo 1:
“It’s a prequel to Halo 1,” says Frank O’Connor, creative director for 343 Industries, a division of Microsoft that handles all things Halo.
A first-person shooter with an additional multiplayer mode, Halo: Reach “is a chronological prequel but it is not a prequel in the directions the Star Wars prequels were to the (original) movies,” says O’Connor, a co-writer on 2007’s Halo 3. says. “It will cover events in and around the planet Reach,” where the invading Covenant first attacked humankind in the Halo story line.
He also briefly talks about the Halo movie, and that they’re waiting for the right time and partner(perhaps it isn’t dead afterall?). You can read the entire interview here.
