Could Halo: Reach be Squad Based?

Posted 23 Jun 2009 in Speculation

With the Character silhouettes more than less deciphered, one can only speculate that Halo: Reach may be squad based, or at least  more tactical-oriented than the previous halo games(granted, Halo 3 ODST has yet to release).  The silhouettes featured in the Halo: Reach E3 Trailer and on the Halo: Reach Box Art seem to mean something significant but most cannot put their finger on it.

Bungie suggesting a more tactical, more military, squad based type game isn’t to far-fetched, keeping in mind that they did release a little game called Halo Wars, an RTS and very much about tactics.

University of Utah Entertainment and Computer Arts major Jack Furbush says, “What is cool about it is that in Halo 1, 2 and 3 you are the only Spartan. You’re alone. You have Marines but they get killed off really easily. I think Halo Reach will give you control over your teammates, like Ghost Recon. Reach would become a much more tactical version of Halo, which would be really cool.”

This could be Bungie simply closing the gap, including a type of gameplay that players haven’t seen in a Halo game before. Some speculate that Halo: Reach may make use of Project Natal, this idea doesn’t put out that notion, in fact, Halo: Reach could use Project Natal in an online Squad Based game–with the Halo brand behind it–to create the ultimate tactical experience.
