Halo Waypoint Video and Possible Gameplay
Halo Waypoint is due to launch for free on November 5th to all Xbox Live members and shortly after, to gold members only. Waypoint is a xbox 360 dashboard hub that aims to aggregate data across all Xbox 360 Halo games in an effort to bring more interactivity to the table. Developed by Microsoft’s Halo group, 343 Industries, in conjunction with game development studio Certain Affinity, Halo Waypoint will include Community screenshots, gametypes, awards, Halo lore, Halo player spotlights and more. Jason Pace tells Kotaku that Halo Waypoint intends to event or bring forth a certain content type for each day of the weak, ensuring that Halo fans always have something new to do.
Jason Pace responds to Kotaku’s comment about possible gameplay: “Waypoint’s gameplay could involve anything from a Halo character running through the Waypoint hub to an interactive Halo timeline filled with secrets, a la the PlayStation 3′s Metal Gear Solid Database.” With: “My answer to that is that both options are fully on the table.”
Even as Halo Waypoint will be getting ready to launch come November 5th, Jason still points out that things are still developing and are likely to change. We can safely assume that Halo: Reach will be included in Waypoint down the road. One of the more interesting suggestions out there is that Waypoint will introduce awards that will encourage more gamers to game and the ability, for example, to unlock a feature in Halo Reach by gaining an award, earned by playing Halo Wars or ODST.
