Too Early for Project-Natal
Bit by bit we try and piece together information about Halo: Reach. You may recall the past hype about Halo: Reach possibly making use of Project-Natal, a device that promises to change the way gaming is done by incorporating motion-tracking capabilities along with voice recognition. VideoGamer recently caught up with Alex Cutting, producer on Halo 3: ODST from Microsoft Game Studios. Alex had this to say:
“A lot of people are interested in what Natal’s presence in Halo’s going to be. We are committing to only doing it when it makes sense. We are not going to produce a gimmicky feature that just takes advantage of motion controls when it doesn’t feel right.”
“We’re going to make the games we want to play. We’re not going to make a feature that’s not fun. If there’s an opportunity to do it, we will definitely investigate it. If it’s fun we will leave it in the game. But further than that, I can’t tell you any specific plans.”
Some may take this as a step back from what was once said about Project-Natal by Studio President Harold Ryan. There still may be time though, as Halo: Reach won’t be out for another year and Project-Natal estimated to release around the same timeframe as Reach. Realistically, this will all be put to rest when the Halo: Reach Beta is launched.
